It's up to each artist where they sign, I usually sign in the right (I am a lefty) Most times I put the year. It's really what u want but make sure u sign it

I usually sign at the right side down (facing the piece) and put only the year. In older pieces i used to put day month and year - the exact date it was finished but i realized it was to much. Some times if the entire board is black i sign on the side down or at the back if the wood is to thin. If there is no room on the right side i sign on the left.
As Winnipeg said its up to you, there is nothing standard on this and i also agry to not forget to sign. The most important thing is your name , the way you are going to do it,full name or not its up to you, i only hope you dont have any cousin with the same name and surname.

i put my initials on the front, usually in the right bottom corner. i write the title of the piece, date i finished it, my name, and my initials again on the back. also if i've used someones photograph i put their name and their web address or whatever they want, it's the least i can do for using their photo or part of their photo.
this is just how i do it, there's no rules or right or wrong way to do it though, it is after all art ...Jay

I do it the same way as Jay does...I use to put the year on the front, but if you don't sell it that year, then it starts getting old. So I date it on the back.

Danette thanks for the tip, it never crossed my mind to date my pieces on the back for that reason, but i guess from now on i'll use your advice about the date cause i like the idea. This way i can write the month in letters and year.
I was always anxious not to draw attention with the signature and information about the piece but with the piece itshelf.
