I own a "Black & Decker" soldering iron, it was my first woodburning machine and not only it is cheap it takes solid brass tips from other machines as well (one temperature). This is a site where you can see this machine : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Decker-Ci500-Soldering-Station/dp/B000QI329M
I never considered using it for backrounds.
Andoni thanks a lot for the photos they are helping.
I'll give it a try and i'll post the results.

I posted the blurry video showing the way i finally found to burn a dark backround on my facebook site and this is the link : http://www.facebook.com/video/?id=1476249470

I'm keeping my promise on posting a better one because this was made on a round spoon handle and i dont know if you can clearly see the process (not easy when you dont have someone to hold the camera). I also have the tv on and i'm not speaking. I'll try make one more decent and post it on you-tube next time and hopefully with my voice explaining the process.
So, this one is for those who are very anxious to see the technic.

Even with the limitations you mentioned, Athina, the technique you used is clear enough to get an idea of how you did it.

Hi Athina.
Step 1.
To you explain the technique, you do with indigo, you will not never make art.
WHY!?!....Is not understands the form, you are a victim for indigo.
Drawing through exercise, you will see three-dimension...Burning wood is not to have touched tip of tool...Wait until the tip of nuances, without reaching the surface wood...A paper in the size 30/40 cm, burning time will be 300 hours...So for starters...Growth good in the art.GOOD BY.....

Antoni, although i didn't quite understand the meaning of the commend due to my limited english knowledge i'm always admiring your burnings and i want to point out for every member to know that : the tool i refer to, the nib that it carries and the way i burn, suits me and only me. I am not an expert and i always try the ways more experienced artists advise me to, but sometimes neither the tool nor the way they point out suits me, so i try find my own way. It may not be right, nor wrong, i dont know for that matters, but i always point out that it works for me and this doesn't mean it will work for everybody else.
When members ask me how i burned something i'm always glad to show or explain the way i did it, not because i want the credit but because i want to give something back for all this help i'm getting from all of you.
So i hope that every member understands that i'm always posting replies or threads as a person who loves and practices this kind of art, not as a teacher but as a fellow burner.

Hi Athina
I didn't understand the commend either. Guess it was my limited english. Anyway, I do understand what you were doing, Sharing a technique that works for you because of your love for pyrograp[hy and willingness to help others that may want to try it that way. Thanks for the video, very good for the "first" one.

Sam

I read your post several times, Andoni. Don't quite understand the references to indigo ? Also, are you saying that you burn with the tip not touching the wood? Please clarify for us.
