Welcome, after trying several different brands of headband magnifiers I settled on the MagEyes magnifier - the main reason is that it is very lightweight - under 2 ounces and it is open in the back no bands to adjust. It comes with a couple of different strength lenses and has a couple of others that you can purchase. I use the lowest strength - it provides just enough magnification to keep the details sharp without adding distortion and keeps my eyes from feeling too tired or strained after burning for a long time.

Hi hunterace. Welcome to the site.
I was thinking of getting a magnifier/light so can't comment as yet, but I'm interested in the answers you receive.

Cheers

Hi, Jay! Sorry I haven't posted sooner to say welcome. I haven't been as much as I usually am lately. So first off I do want to wish you a BIG Woodburner Welcome!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. The nice surprise is all the nice friendships/relationships that you will develop when you are here. I knew I would find lots of great info and inspiration here and that I would learn a lot. But did not expect later.

And to your question you have gotten a lot of good advice already. Right now I just use magnifying readers that can be found anywhere that were mentioned. I have used the mageyes before that were also mentioned. They are nice and not very constraining as said.

I think I would like t try one of the table magnifiers and lights like the quilters use.

If you end up being interested in the mag eyes, if you have a Jo-Anne Fabrics they carry them and often have 50% off coupons and if not they are 40% off so you can get them pretty reasonable. Our store always has extra ads with the coupons in them at the back of the store or you can ask the cashier or clerk if they have any. If they do they will give them to you too. Good luck! And again Welcome!

i dont use a magnifier, but it IS getting harder to keep focused when doing tight burns. my sister does cross stitch and she has a magnifier that clamps onto her hoop. i am sure that something like that would work.
