Hello,

I want the spammers to know that if I find spam in any of the comments or in the forum, or anywhere a member is authorized to post, I will remove it and BAN that user immediately!! I'm working on another approach which could prevent this from every happening again!

In the past week or two, I've had to remove about 100 comments and banned the associated 'members'. I just wanted to make this post so members would realize that the Spam is happening. Most of the SPAM consists of a comment that is little more than a series of links to other websites, none of them related to pyrography.

A sample follows:
Good day, Very cool design! I find very interesting information at this article, thanks. buy zithromax online buy zithromax prescription men testosterone patches buy prednisolone norvasc 5mg flomax medication lamisil cream celexa generic neurontin 300mg clarinex 5mg drug lipitor crestor 10mg effexor generic

The above was posted by 'member' named 'helpful', and each of the words above were links to their websites. If you see any comments with many link, I would advise NOT clicking on any of them. They could be legitimate businesses or could be out to place a bug on your computer to harvest other information.

NOTE: This is not meant for anyone except the folks (probably automated bots) who SPAM the website. The members who are REAL people will not be banned

So far, I have NOT noticed any spam in the forums, but you never know.

If a member finds anything in the forum or comments that is questionable, please let me know.

Thank you all and have a good day!

Ralph

I know the problem Ralph and I went to requiring a manual approval for each member. I then do a google search for their email address and usually they will be found that way. A few have slipped through and I get notified of any new post, so I can jump on it pretty quick. However I have had a few porn spammers before I figured an approach out. Most Google and yahoo email accounts I don't even consider, unless they "appear" legit....after a while you can tell )

Regardless, it is always the few that ruin things for the rest and hopefully you can nip it.
